The YMCA of the USA makes up the largest non-profit community service organization in America. In 1858, just seven years after the YMCA came to this country from England, the first Y opened in Atlanta. Caught in the middle of the Civil War, the Y disappeared in 1864, but was reorganized in 1873, and has since been in continuous operation. The Covington Family YMCA Branch built its existing facility in 2000. We now serve over 2,500 members, employ more than 50 people, and work with over 500 volunteers each year. Some of our programs offered are childcare, youth sports, aquatics, day camp, and health and wellness. Character Development - We accomplish our mission through programs that develop character by teaching and demonstrating the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Covington Branch Membership - Covington Branch members have access to our facility in Covington for a reduced rate but are not allowed access to the other Atlanta Metropolitan YMCA branches. Metro-wide Membership - YMCA members have access to all the facilities and programs offered in the metro Atlanta area. Program Memberships - You may participate in selected programs without the facility amenities. Individual and family program memberships are available on an annual basis.
Your YMCA, reflecting its Judeo-Christian heritage, is an association of volunteers, members and staff, open to and serving all, providing programs and services which develop spirit, mind, and body. Financial assistance is available based on need. The YMCA actively seeks to identify and involve those in need. |
