Located in Brookhaven, the Cowart Family YMCA delivers a summer day camp experience that balances creativity, movement, and learning.
Camp runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with early drop-off available from 7:00–9:00 AM and extended evening care from 4:00–6:30 PM, making it a convenient option for working families.
Campers can enjoy the familiarity of Traditional Camp, stay active in Sports Camp, or explore hands-on learning through STEAM Camp, where curiosity and problem-solving take center stage. With a supportive YMCA environment and a wide range of activities, the Cowart Family YMCA helps kids build skills, friendships, and confidence throughout the summer.

This is a half day camp (9:00am - 1:00pm) that allows our campers to learn and explore new and exciting activities each week while making new friends. Each week will have it's own theme and activities based around the theme.
Get ready for a summer full of movement and fun! Our full-day Gym and Swim Camp combines active play with essential water skills, creating the perfect balance of fitness and excitement. Campers will enjoy a variety of gym-based activities such as games, sports, and team challenges designed to build strength, coordination, and confidence.
Campers will learn various sports each week. Fundamentals, rules and technique will be emphasized throughout the week, along with implementing skills in a game-like setting. Campers will enjoy other camp activities such as swimming, arts & crafts and traditional camp games.
Our Soccer Sports Camp focuses on skill development through engaging drills, exciting scrimmages, and fun games. Campers build confidence, improve technique, and learn teamwork in a supportive and active environment. Whether they're new to the sport or looking to sharpen their skills, this camp offers a great mix of learning and play.
Campers will build their basketball skills through a mix of drills, scrimmages, and games designed to boost confidence, coordination, and teamwork. In addition to time on the court, they’ll enjoy a variety of traditional camp activities that keep the day fun, active, and well-rounded. It’s the perfect blend of sports and classic camp experiences!
Campers will learn new cheers while focusing on techniques and forms. They will also learn the basics of tumbling in a fun, relaxed environment.
Step into the rhythm this summer! Our full-day Dance Camp is perfect for campers who love to move, groove, and express themselves through music. Each day features engaging dance classes that explore a variety of styles—from jazz and hip-hop to contemporary and more—while building confidence, coordination, and creativity.
Learn the fastest-growing sport in a fun, active setting! Our camp focuses on serving, volleying, footwork, and game strategy through drills and friendly matches. Perfect for beginners and experienced players alike—come ready to play and improve your skills!
Our flag football sports camps will spend 2 hours per day working on flag football skill development through drills, scrimmages, and games.
This full-day camp invites young artists to unleash their creativity through a variety of hands-on art experiences. Campers spend dedicated time each day exploring different mediums—painting, drawing, and more—while learning techniques that help bring their imaginations to life.
Curious minds come alive at STEAM Camp! Campers explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and math through hands-on projects, creative challenges, and collaborative experiments. It’s a summer of innovation, imagination, and discovery.
In Cooking Camp, young chefs will roll up their sleeves and dive into the delicious world of cooking creativity. Campers will learn kitchen basics, explore new recipes, and whip up tasty treats, all while enjoying traditional camp activities like games, crafts, and outdoor fun.

FAQ's
Traditional Camp runs 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Drop-off from 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM
pick-up from 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Check-in is by the Picnic tables next to playground, you will pull up carpool style and drop your child off with a staff member.
Check-out will be across the street at Blackburn Park (weather permitting).
Please park and an authorized adult will need to meet the staff to check campers out. Early check-outs need to be communicated to staff by the start of the camp day.
There are no check-outs between 3:30pm and 4pm while the campers are transitioning to Blackburn Park.
Each day, campers need to bring:
- Refillable water bottle,
- Morning snack,
- Swimsuit and towel if swimming
- Change of clothes
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- Electronics of any kind
- Cell phones
- Laptops
- Toys from home
Comfortable clothes for inside and outside activities and shoes with a back (slides do not have a backing).
Campers should be able to apply their own sunscreen and bug spray.
We will encourage application while outdoors and frequent water breaks throughout the day.
Children who are ill should remain home and any child who becomes ill during the camp day will have their guardians notified.
Rainy-day plans will be communicated with families as they occur.
Afternoon rain will change pick-up procedures.
We operate a nut-free camp.
Campers should bring a morning snack.
The camp team must be notified of any allergies.
Campers will be separated into the following age groups; mighty mites (3 & 4), Explorers (5 & 6), Voyagers (7 & 8), and Pathfinders (9-12).
Specialty camps will remain with their specialty program in the morning and then join their age groups in the afternoon.
The different groups will rotate through different activity spaces. A typical day starts with wake-up camp! All campers then find their group for the day and has two activities before lunch. We serve lunch to all campers and then groups will swim or go outside for an activity. All campers then head to Blackburn park for pick up. Mighty Mites are picked up by 1pm from the play center while all other campers are picked up by 6:30pm.
Yes, campers will be swimming in our pool several times per week.
Campers are expected to be an active member of the positive, welcoming environment at camp.
Bullying and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Our counselors work to redirect and encourage positive interactions throughout the day.
For continued disruptions to the camp program, families may be contacted for support with their camper or to discuss continued participation in the program.
Families will receive email and push notifications for general updates including rainy-day plans. For specific situations, families may receive a phone call from the youth development directors. Families can contact Isabelle or Adeline by calling the front desk or the lead counselor on duty by calling the site phone.
Camp is the most fun place to be during the summer!

Isabelle enjoys growing the Y community with every camper through songs, crafts, and games.
