SHADAE SHAMAPANADE started at the Decatur Family Y in the summer of 2017 as a camp counselor and today she is the Youth Development Director at the McCleskey-East Cobb Family Y!
Shadae shared, “My experience as a camp counselor was fun AND fulfilling!”
After her first summer as a counselor, Shadae became a lead camp counselor. Next, she worked her way up to Camp Coordinator, and then Youth Development Director!
From there, she moved to another YMCA within our association, the McCleskey-East Cobb Family Y as the Youth Development Director, bringing her amazing experience and skillset to even more young people in the metro Atlanta community.
Shadae remembers having a choice between a nanny position in her community, or a camp counselor with the Y.
She’ll never forget her dad telling her... “Go with the path of the YMCA, because that is not just a job opportunity, it’s a career opportunity.”
