Summit Family YMCA to Host 5th Annual Veterans’ Expo on May 16

Organization supporting metro Atlanta veterans by connecting them to resources, services and more

The Summit Family YMCA today announced it will host its fifth annual Veterans’ Expo in Newnan on Thursday, May 16 from 4-7 p.m. to celebrate veterans, military community members and families in Newnan and surrounding counties. The free event provides attendees with access to valuable information about products, services, resources, organizations, and support groups and will feature a local Veterans Affairs pop-up claims office on-site.

“Each year, we bring together veterans, military community members and families to celebrate their service and provide beneficial resources,” said Shane Gann, executive director of the Summit Family YMCA and group vice president of the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. “This event is open to all, and we encourage our community members to visit our family-friendly expo to express gratitude to our veterans and learn more about the military community.”

During the event, attendees will have access to information and services about benefits, insurance, PTSD services, employment and more. The Y will provide free t-shirts to the first 200 attendees. Guests can also win door prizes, giveaways and more.

The event is part of the YMCA’s ‘Why It Matters Annual Giving Campaign,’ a fundraising initiative that makes the Y available to people who cannot afford the cost of program and membership fees. All vendor fees, sponsorships and donations raised from the event will help offset member costs for veterans and provide scholarships for underprivileged families and children.
