The Brittany & Kayla Fund supports a place that was near and dear to Brittany Feldman and Kayla Canedo: YMCA Camp High Harbour at Lake Allatoona.
Brittany and Kayla were campers at YMCA Camp High Harbour together and journeyed side by side through the camp’s leadership program, eventually becoming beloved staff members. In the spring of 2016, both had accepted Program Director roles for the upcoming summer, a testament to their character, commitment, and love for camp. Tragically, they lost their lives in a car accident before that summer began.
In the years since, the Feldman and Canedo families have worked faithfully to preserve their legacies in one of the places the girls loved most. Through fundraising events and the creation of the Brittany & Kayla Fund, the following has been made possible at camp:
- The development of Legacy Village, a peaceful space for reflection and rest on the Lake Allatoona camp property.
- Two young leaders are selected each year, based on a personal essay submission, to receive full scholarships for their three-week leadership experience.
- A Military Family Retreat was held at camp in the fall of 2023. The Fund fully covered this free retreat weekend for 16 military families. Families rode boats and kayaks, challenged themselves on the ropes course, practiced archery and slingshot skills, painted pumpkins, and most importantly, enjoyed meaningful time together at camp.
- In the spring of 2024, the Feldman and Canedo families hosted an appreciation dinner for supporters. This evening was filled with celebration, laughter, tears, and powerful reminders of the lasting impact Brittany and Kayla continue to make.
Brittany & Kayla Classic – April 26
The Brittany & Kayla Classic TopGolf Event returns April 26, with proceeds benefiting the Brittany & Kayla Fund. This year’s fundraising efforts will support the renovation of leadership cabins at Camp High Harbour at Lake Allatoona, investing directly in the next generation of campers and counselors.
The event will feature:
- Raffle
- Silent auction
- “Closest to the Pin” contest
- Wine pull
Registration is open now through April 17. Walk-up registrations will also be accepted at the event.
Once again, thank you for your ongoing support of the Feldman and Canedo families. Together, we are honoring the legacies of Brittany and Kayla and building a brighter future for all who call YMCA Camp High Harbour their home away from home.
