Veronica Squires

Chief Philanthropy Officer

Veronica has been a dynamic and connected leader in the Atlanta development community for many years and has held pivotal positions for organizations that our Y considers both partners and friends. Her reputation for being energetic, entrepreneurial, and strategy-focused, with a talent for execution (i.e. getting things done!) is well regarded and I’m confident in her ability to continue moving the needle for the Y.

Joining us from the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta (BGCMA), where she’s been Chief Development Officer since 2021, Veronica is known for transforming organizational outcomes and building sustainable revenue. Under her leadership, annual fundraising efforts surpassed goals, with a notable comprehensive campaign raising over $27.8 million. She was also instrumental in enhancing the Youth of the Year gala, significantly boosting sponsorship and fundraising outcomes.

Prior to her tenure at BGCMA, Veronica served as Chief Development Officer (2015-2017) and then as Chief Administrative Officer (2017 - 2021) at The Good Samaritan Health Center (Good Sam) in Atlanta, where she oversaw the clinic's daily operations and strategic initiatives. Her efforts were critical in navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, launching innovative training programs, and steering the clinic towards financial sustainability and growth.

With a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University and an Executive MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, Veronica is also a published author. In 2019, she co-authored “How Neighborhoods Make Us Sick: Restoring Health and Wellness to Our Communities,” advocating for the idea that everyone deserves the opportunity for good health and that the decisions we make and actions we take can promote the health of our neighbors.

When I asked her about her “why,” she said, “The Y’s mission brings together everything I care about: family, wellness, youth development, health equity, and community impact. My professional path has led me to this moment, and I cannot wait to grow the Y’s philanthropic revenue so we can make an even bigger impact in the communities we serve together."
